Three and a half

This week we celebrated Porters half birthday. I can't believe my first baby is three and a half. Something about that half makes him sound incredibly old! He loves being able to now add the half on when people ask how old he is.

Nonni came to play and we had lots of fun celebrating. We started with a donut breakfast...

Then spent the morning being superheroes and construction workers. Thank goodness for Nonni's energy on days like this because mamas energy was not keeping up!

Happy half birthday sweet baby boy! I love celebrating you!

"Back to School"

The teacher in me loves seeing all of our friends' back to school pictures of their kiddos. While we aren't necessarily back to school, per say, we are working on our preschool learning activities. I love having two curious little people around that are so eager to learn. And oh my do they look cute doing so :)

Today, we worked on color sorting and letter identification.

And fine motor skills (or self-control with not eating the beans ;)

Books with Nonni

My babies absolutely love books! And they absolutely love their Nonni. So reading books WITH Nonni??! I'm so thankful for all of the special memories they get to make with her.  We love you Nonni!

Camp Out

Friday night, Porter and Daddy had their first camp out. Because we weren't sure how he would do in the woods or at a campsite, we decided to give him a test run on the back porch. He was elated to be able to help Daddy set up the tent and sleeping bags! They chose some special "camping snacks" (aka Oreos and cheezits), packed glow sticks and "cozy things"  and headed outside. I have to say I fully expected to see them back inside within a few hours, but they made it all night long! Porter was so proud of himself and says he is now ready to go on a real camping trip.

Watching a bedtime cartoon on Daddy's phone in the tent...

We hung the glow sticks in the top of the tent as a night light. He loved it!

Savannah's Many Faces

This girl has no shortage of facial expressions, and I love them! She is emotional and silly and hilarious in all of her own ways. Here are just a few...

"Mom said I couldn't have cookies for breakfast!"

"I'm too cute for this booster seat!"

Cowgirl Savannah

"Mommy, you aren't holding me!"

2 seconds later..."mommy gave in!"

Pretend sleeping

Her hands were "dirty" ;)

Daddy Time

I am so thankful to have a husband that loves being a daddy! And these babies sure love their daddy! The way he loves us and takes care of us in so many ways is a blessing I prayed for in finding a husband and The Lord was so faithful! Thank you honey for the ways you love and serve our family so well!

Church time

For the sake of documenting milestones, I figured it best to write this one down. And also in case it doesn't happen again for a while, I'll remember that once upon a time, it did happen! This weekend, Savannah stayed in her nursery class The. Entire. Time. Y'all, that's huge for us! It has been months since Sean and I have been able to sit through a whole service together! But thanks to a very sweet nursery worker taking the time to love on her and get to know her, she did it. Yahoo! And I even got these sweet pictures during church to let me know she was ok...

And she wasn't the only one being photographed. Apparently Porter took a moment during prayer time to document his own good behavior while sitting quietly throughout the service. Oops!

Gatlinburg mini-vacation

Last week we took one last trip as a family of four. It was fun...and tiring! Possibly not the best timing as Savannah was battling the beginning of a virus and also teething. All in all, it was fun and I am so glad we got one last get-away before we become a family of 5 (5, wow, slightly terrifying!). We stayed in an amazing hotel that had probably the most perfect pool for kids! It had a water slide and a mushroom (Porter said it was a marshmallow, lol!) and a gradual incline, so the kids could do a lot independently. The pool and trolley rides were probably the highlight of the trip! We rode the trolley several times to and from downtown. We also ventured to the aquarium. Not as much of a hit as we were hoping it might have been, but still some fun memories made! We tried letting the kids ride some amusement park rides also...bad idea! Porter loved the merry go round and train, Savannah hated it all! We ended up in the arcade, which was way more fun!
