And people say girls wrap daddy around their little finger. I think this boy's got daddy wrapped up pretty tight, if you ask me :)

Mr. Mischief!
Yesterday morning I came out of the bathroom to find this in my bed...
When I was pregnant with Porter, I wondered a lot about his personality. Would he be an outdoorsy little boy? Would he like to climb things? Would he be messy? Would he be loud? Would he be a dare devil? Would he have a kind, loving heart under all those very 'boyish' qualities? The answer to all of those...YES! I love his curious, playful little personality!
So remember the whole 'he won't get within a 10-foot radius of his kiddie pool'? Well that all changed! Only, it changed when he had on normal (non-swim ready) clothes and a regular diaper, as opposed to a swim diaper that doesn't soak up twice his weight in water! Ah well, at least it was just water ;)

Doughnuts and Playhouses
Thanks to a friend's children outgrowing their play set, this is the newest addition to our playroom...
This weekend we managed a trip up to Asheville to spend an early Father's Day with my dad. And if you ask me, no trip up to Asheville is complete without a stop to Krispy Kreme! {Side note: why in this ginormous city of Charlotte, is the closest one 40 minutes away?! Ugh!)Anyways, that bright red 'Hot Now' sign popped up just as we were driving by and well, you know the rest. Porter enjoyed {a.k.a. covered everyone else at the table with it} a chocolate iced with sprinkles doughnut and milk with a straw {it doesn't take much to make this little guy feel like a big kid!}.
Porter spent almost {literally!} every waking moment in this house yesterday. We ate breakfast in the little house, we played trucks in the little house, we read books in the little house... you get the picture! Figuring out that he can open the door and go inside all by himself has him feeling like quite the big boy. Seeing those chubby little cheeks pop out of a window to say "Mama" sure did crack me up {which then meant that he did it about 7,482 more times}. Hey, it's the little things right?!
(Sorry for the blurry camera phone picture. That's about as long as he would stand still!)

Friday Fun Facts
What's been going on around here this week? Let's see...
We are making the merge {still not sure how I feel about that. Well, I am actually. It's not been pleasant thus far!}. Porter's right in the middle of going from two daytime naps to one and he's having about as much fun figuring this out as I have! I'm trying to help him figure out which time of day would be the best for this one, oh so coveted nap. Too early makes for a VERY.LONG.afternoon! Middle of the day messes up his lunch time. Too late means he's way overtired at that point and simply won't nap. Needless to say, we've seen a lot of this around here this week...
All these girly preparations and ideas have inspired the sewing machine to make its grand entrance. Those who know me know that 'craftyness' is NOT my middle name! But seeing some of those Etsy prices for 'custom' baby items will get just about anyone's sewing foot pedal moving! So after a few tutorials and many calls to my dear, talented sister, Emma {thanks Emma! Who knew threading that darn needle would be so hard?!} we have got enough paci clips and burp cloths to last our little Savannah a very long time...
I'm convinced that we have our very own 25-pound garbage disposal! This boy eats, and eats, and eats! His meals rival Daddy's this week! I liked Aldi before, but now I could write them a love letter if I thought about it long enough! That place saves us so much money and is always so much less crowded {except for Sunday afternoons, wow!} than other stores! Anyways, we've seen a lot of this going on this week...

The real Porter
These next two poses have become very typical Porter lately:
Someone PLEASE tell me that my child is not the only one to walk around like an elderly mall-walker! This is how he walks 98% of the time. And while it is very cute, it does make for one clumsy little boy. I always wonder if these pictures will embarrass him later, or if he'll think they're cute. Anyways, in the meantime, we're getting a kick out of it!
This child LOVES playing with and zooming cars around the playroom, and I happen to think it's quite cute to watch! He is just like his daddy! He wants to see how everything fits together, how it comes apart, and what happens when you hit it against something. Hey, at least I know what I have to look forward to, right?! By the way, his car noises are super cute! I've been trying to catch it on video, but he only wants to hold the camera. We have to sneak our pictures these days!

Water table fun
This past weekend it was EXTRA hot outside and I thought it would be a great time to go get Porter a plastic pool to play with on the back deck, with his water table. Only he didn't think so! Apparently sitting beside the pool is much more fun than sitting in the pool, who knew?! He would put a few fingers or toes in at a time, but that was about it. {We can thank daddy for this aversion to pools! Sean has never been a big fan of the pool and I think it would be safe to say that Porter has inherited this trait! The poor people at our neighborhood pool this past weekend would agree, yikes!} Sitting beside the pool in his green chair was a hit, but not so much sitting in the pool :) The water table is still a big hit though because he's realized that if he dumps just enough water onto mommy's dry clothes, he gets quite the reaction ;) While we may not get to spend many of these warm summer days at the actual pool, we can at least sit on the porch and let Porter mommy enjoy the plastic pool, quite a sight (sorry neighbors, lol!) while Porter plays in the water table {a.k.a. throws things off the porch, ah well, you pick your battles right?}.
