Last week...

Last week, we played at home several days because it was quite cold!

We cried because mommy said biting was not nice :(

And 4 seconds later, we were happy again :)

We enjoyed a couple special treats on our trip to Charlotte. We went to the mall, rode the merry go round, got ice cream, shared cupcakes, hung out with Becca and Skylar, and had fun in out hotel room. We love hotels!

And went to church (looking quite cute, I might add ;)

Porter had his first dental cleaning. He did great!

We played "chef" and made lots of yummy food ;)

We shared our snacks...

And did lots of art :)

Hands-On Museum

Today the kids and I (along with a few friends) had a wonderful day at the Hands-On Museum and then the park for a picnic. I'm so thankful for sweet friends to enjoy nice weather with and precious kids to brighten every day!

Both kids are at such fun stages right now! They are independent enough to find places to play when we go out, but little enough to still need Mommy's help. Perfect stage! And not to mention their sweet friendship lasts even out in public. Porter wants to show Savannah everything he finds and Savannah wants to follow Porter wherever he goes. I love it!

(Porter has his first "crush", Enslee. She is precious and he loves her curly hair. Very sweet!)

Favorite moments

These pictures are some favorite moments this week:

I took the kids to a special breakfast at Panera.

These two are together any and every moment lately. Porter reads and she listens. Be still my heart!

My sassy little fashionista is choosing her own accessories lately ;) hince the red socks and Christmas necklace.

Mornings with these 2 are the best!

I am trying to do some structured preschool lessons with Porter anytime his attention span will allow it. We are working on letters, numbers, shapes, colors, following directions, hand-eye coordination, pre-writing skills, memorizing short Bible verses, etc. He is doing well, it's just a matter of keeping his attention.

I found them watching cartoons like this.

Speaking of choosing our own outfits, cowboy vest and tool belt were his choices this day.

Cowboy party

This weekend, we celebrated our favorite 3 year old's birthday with the party of his choice...cowboys and horses. It was a blast. We did hot dogs, chili and cake. Some bandanas and sherrif badges for decoration made up the decor. It was super simple and lots of fun! I love doing parties, but I'm learning through experience that there's a lot to be said for simplicity! I knew we made the right choices when we still had time for church, lunch and naps before the party even started. I snapped some quick pictures of the decorations before the party started, but Emma got most of the pictures on her camera. I'll add some to update the blog when I get them. These will have to suffice for now...

This was my first time attempting decorating my own cake, as opposed to cupcakes and I was very pleased with the result :)

Happy birthday cowboy Porter!
