tales of our imperfect, but thankfully grace-filled, journey through life together

Back Home
While vacations are very fun, there's just something wonderful about returning home. Today, we had a day to stay home, play, and catch up on everything. We were even able to fit in craft time and a walk through the neighborhood! These are the days that make up my favorite memories and keep us all sane!

Vacation Day 7
Day 7 was definitely one of my favorites! We had so much fun family time and the weather was a dream! We went for a walk in the morning to feed the turtles and ended up walking the whole resort (3 miles, thank goodness for our wagon!) for right at 3 hours. It was a blast! We saw an alligator, a deer, lots of turtles and plenty of friendly faces. We went back for lunch and naps. Then we tried a new dinner place called Coleman's Public House. It was ok, but probably not a do-again. The kids did great though and enjoyed eating outside. Afterwards, we went on a spur of the moment drive downtown to see the horses again (oops, they were up for the night) and ended up in an adorable cupcake shop. It was the most perfect ending to a wonderful, fun vacation!

Vacation Days 5,6
Oops, I knew I would end up missing a day. Better late than never :)
Yesterday was busy and fun, which didn't leave much time for picture taking. We spent the morning at an amazing, kid-friendly pool, which the kids loved! It had a kiddie pool part and a gradual slope with water fountains. So fun! We spent 3 hours there! That's huge, we don't do anything for 3 hours these days!! We all had a blast! We came back for lunch and naps and went to Barnes and Noble and Raising Canes with the whole family. After dinner, we started what I hope will be a new tradition. We all went to the resort's fire pit and make s'mores. The kids loved the wagon ride over and spending time with everyone.
Today, we started our morning with a special coffee and morning walk to look for turtles. We knew it would be a rainy day, so we wanted to get some fresh air while we could. The rest of the family had to go home a little early this year, so we spent a rainy afternoon just the four of us watching cartoons and playing. It was quite strange (and quiet and sad) without everyone else with us. The kids asked several times where everyone was. They definitely enjoy spending time with family. The more, the merrier :) After naps, we got ready and went to Page's Okra Grill for dinner and drove around Sullivan's Island for some sight-seeing. We all enjoyed coming back and getting cozy in our jammies for a bedtime cartoon and strawberry ice cream. The kids love sitting together to watch shows and I love watching them together!

Also, today marked the 22 week mark for Baby and I, and we finally remembered to take our weekly picture. Baby #3 is definitely not as well documented ;)

Vacation Day 4
We had such a fun day today! We started the day at my favorite bakery, Village Bakery! Yumm!! Our plan was to go here on Mothers Day, but lesson learned. Always check the hours before going. They were closed on Sunday :( but it made for a perfect breakfast today! We followed it with a rather unplanned trip downtown. We knew the afternoon heat would be too much for this pregnant mama and the babies, so we got there mid-morning and spent a couple hours. After 2 hours, we were hot and had done all we wanted to do. Perfect timing! The highlight of our morning was getting to go through several of the barns where they keep the horses that do the carriage tours. We were able to get super close and pet a few. Porter said today "was his best day EVER!". Sweet, sweet boy! His heart was full and so were ours! We went to Sean's favorite store, the Moon Pie store, and River Street Sweets. If you've never had an authentic, Southern praline, you haven't fully lived!
On the way home, we stopped for lunch at a Mexican restaurant, our favorite! Then got home in perfect time for naps and some sweet family play time. I am so thankful that Sean has been able to take time away and we have been able to spend so much quality time together. We realized quickly about 3 years ago just how quickly time passes and are so thankful for low-key afternoons to wrestle with toddlers, read books, and build castles. Any afternoon spent with our babies is perfect in our eyes!
We finished the day with a pizza dinner at home with the whole family. Pizza is definitely a dinner favorite ;)

Vacation Day 3
Every year I get home from vacation with 200+ pictures and that seems like too overwhelming of a task to sort through them and form some kind of a blog. So this year, I have made it my goal to blog every day with that day's pictures, just for memory's sake. We'll see how many days are actually successful ;)
We started the day with breakfast and some cartoons.
Then headed down to the beach before the afternoon heat kicked in. The beach wasn't as big of a hit today, not sure why. They still had fun, just not for as long.
Everyone calmed down with baths, lunch, naps, and some playtime back at the beach house. It's those times that my favorite beach/family memories are made! The kids love all of the attention and game time is quite the tradition.
Eating dinners out has proven to be quite a task this year, so dinners in the room have been much more enjoyable. Tonight was spaghetti and a special trip to get ice cream and see the lighthouse.
